Defence Chief Urges Anambra Community to Reject IPOB/ESN Ideologies

The Chief of Defence Staff, CDS General Christopher Musa, has called on the people of Anambra State to reject the ideologies of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, ESN, describing them as detrimental to the nation’s unity and progress.

Represented by Group Captain Ibrahim Bukar, General Musa made the call during a diplomacy campaign tour to Anambra State, where he was hosted by the Eze-Igulube of Omor, Obi Eze Ana-Ukwu, in his palace on Thursday.

According to the CDS, propagating IPOB or ESN activities, even through social media, makes one complicit in their activities. “When you propagate IPOB or ESN activities on your platform and you send to one or two groups, you are also no different from being part of them,” he warned.

General Musa emphasized the need for the community to focus on promoting peace, unity, and development, rather than allowing themselves to be swayed by groups that seek to undermine the country’s stability.

He also highlighted the issue of misinformation and disinformation as a major problem hampering military operations and urged the people to be cautious.

“We urge you to provide us with actionable information. When you see something, say something. It is through this that we can tackle the challenges of insecurity together and restore lasting peace in our communities and the country,” he said.

In response, the Eze Igulube of Omor, Obi Eze Ana-Ukwu, praised the efforts of the Armed Forces in combating insecurity in his kingdom.

“The commitment of the military personnel in ensuring peace and security in our community has not gone unnoticed, appreciating their tireless efforts to create a safe and secure environment for our people to pursue their economic activities,” he said.

The monarch commended the military personnel for their bravery and dedication to duty, noting that their presence had brought a sense of relief to his communities.

“The military’s presence has brought a sense of relief to our communities, and we commend their bravery and dedication to duty,” he added.

Obi Eze Ana-Ukwu pledged his community’s readiness to cooperate further with the military to ensure improved security.

“Our people are predominantly farmers, peace-loving and accommodating, and ready to give credible information that will help the military improve our security,” he said.

Also speaking, Colonel AK Muhammad, Commandant of 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Onitsha and Commandant of Sector 5 Operation UDO KA, commended the Eze Igulube of Omor, Obi Eze Ana-Ukwu, and the entire community for their support to the Nigerian Military in its efforts to combat insecurity in Anambra.

“We appreciate the monarch for both his support and the entire community for the Nigerian Military and her personnel in the fight against insecurity in Anambra,” he stated.

He assured that the military would always stand with the people and be impartial in all its operations.
