Emir of Ilorin mourns ‘Ambassador Okekere’

Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described late Amb. AbdulKadir Sambo Imam, as a gentle and committed public servant, who served Nigeria meritoriously during his lifetime.

The deceased, who at one time was Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, died on Thursday at the age of 90.

The Emir, in a statement signed by Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona on Thursday in Ilorin, said late Amb. Imam lived an exemplary life and was a great mentor to many people.

He added that the deceased, popularly called ‘Ambassador Okekere’, was not only a proud indigene of Ilorin Emirate, but also an amiable Nigerian and a global citizen with numerous track records of achievements to the nation and humanity.

Sulu-Gambari extended condolences, on behalf of Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, to the family and friends of the deceased.

The Emir urged them to find solace in the fact that late Amb. Imam lived a worthy, enviable and exemplary life.

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and admit him into Al-Janatul Firdaus.
