EXCLUSIVE: Family Narrates How Kidnapped US-based Ilorin Businessman Release Was Secured

The story of Muritala Adebayo is such a pathetic one. A United States of America based Ilorin indigene who loves his country so much that he came back to invest in the agricultural sector as a way to give back to the society. He set up a multi-million naira agricultural investment in Ilorin but was kidnapepd by dare devil gunmen in same Ilorin.
The news of his kidnap made rounds recently and it shook the fabrics of the Kwara State capital, especially given that kidnapping is fast becoming a business in the state. In fact, where he was kept and his family met him has been the same place where at least three persons paid different sum of money, owning to their own kidnap incidences.
In a bid to unravel the circumstances of the kidnap and the family mood, INCNews247 spoke to the brother of the victim compiling details of the occurrence.
Mr Moshood Adebayo who is the brother to the kidnapped Muritala, narrated in graphic details how his brother’s release was secured amid apprehension and uncertainty.
Speaking exclusively to the INCNews247, the brother to the victim revealed that ransom of 5 million naira was paid to the kidnappers around Okolowo area in Ilorin.
Moshood, while narrating his experience in a bid to rescue his brother said it took the family a lot to raise the ransom.
“Some of my brothers and sisters contributed. We tasked each other before it was later completed,” he said.
“I was called around 11pm on Monday and asked to come down to Okolowo. And while coming, I should buy them 3 cold coca cola drinks and five loaves of bread.
“I asked them where I should drop, if it were going to be Ogbomosho expressway or the road leading to Jebba. They said the latter.
“On our way as instructed, I saw some post mounted by soldiers and I was scared of being stopped with such huge amount and I would not be able to tell them the money was for kidnappers. I called to tell them what I saw but they (kidnappers) confidently said there is no cause for alarms that nothing will happen. The kidnappers promised to signal to us before we got to Shao junction.
“They did through flash-lights.
“After the flashlights, before we got to Shao junction, some persons just shouted from nowhere, we saw a footpath and that was the path we followed till we got to them”.
He further revealed that the Ilorin businessman was kept inside a bush and was tortured while threaten to deal with the state.
It was further gathered that the Kidnappers appeared to be from Niger Republic.
The victim is said to be recuperating at an undisclosed destination.
