Incredible Promotion as Frank Mba Rises from AIG to DIG in Three Months

By Alabidun Shuaib AbdulRahman

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced the promotion of Frank Mba, a former Public Relations Officer of the force, to the esteemed rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).

This promotion comes just three months after Frank Mba was elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

In addition to Mba, several other notable officers have been promoted.

Bala Ciroma, the former CP of the FCT Command, has also been promoted to the position of DIG, alongside 14 Commissioners of Police (CPs) who have been promoted to AIG, and 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) who have been elevated to the rank of CP.

Providing insight into the promotions, Ikechukwu Ani, the spokesman for the PSC, emphasised that Mba holds the most senior position among police officers originating from the South East zone of Nigeria.

Ani further explained that these decisions were made during the 21st plenary meeting of the commission, which was presided over by Chairman Solomon Arase.

All members of the commission, including the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Commission, Mrs Ifeoma Adaora Anyanwutaku, were in attendance.

Ani stated, “DIG Ciroma will replace DIG Ali Janga who has retired from Service and had represented the North East geo-political zone in the Police Management team.

“DIG Ciroma, the most senior Officer from the zone will henceforth represent the zone. DIG Mba will represent the South East zone and replace retired DIG John Amadi who before his retirement represented the zone.

“The Commission also approved the promotion of 14 Commissioners of Police to the next rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 22 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the substantive rank of Commissioners.”

Chairman Solomon Arase extended his congratulations to the newly promoted officers and urged them to demonstrate their commitment to national service in response to the PSC’s goodwill.

He assured that police promotions will be conducted regularly, preventing officers from stagnating in any rank.
