FRSC Orders Immediate Re-Inspection of Dangote Fleets Nationwide

Following a devastating road traffic crash involving a Dangote truck on Wednesday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has directed the immediate re-inspection and recertification of Dangote fleets nationwide.

The crash, INCNews247 learnt occurred on the Nyanya-Maraba highway, claimed five lives and injured 14 others.

FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, gave the order in response to the tragedy.

According to the FRSC, the crash was caused by brake failure and speeding. “The Dangote trailer, conveying a full load of cement, experienced brake failure, and the driver lost control of the wheels while speeding, resulting in the crash,” said Mohammed.

The Corps Marshal also ordered the Road Transport Safety Standardisation Office (RTSSO) to ensure maximum compliance with safety standards.

He further directed the immediate clearance of obstructions caused by the crash and prosecution of the truck operator.

The injured victims were rescued to various hospitals in Abuja, while the dead victims were deposited in Karu General Hospital Morgue.

The crash involved 10 vehicles, including the Dangote truck, and resulted in 19 casualties, with 14 sustaining injuries and five fatalities.
