The National Industrial Court has ordered the suspension of the Kwara Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) elections scheduled for today at the Union’s state secretariat.
The court’s decision, INCNews247 learnt followed a petition filed by Fadeyi Babajide and Saka Laaro, accusing the immediate past chairman, Abdulateef Ahmed, and the chairman of the credentials committee, Badamosi Abdul-Hameed Alaiye, of manipulating the list of eligible voters.
Others ordered to appear before the court include the Secretary of the credentials committee, Sulaiman Jimoh Gobir; National President of the Union, Mr Chris Isiguzo; and his secretary, Mr Achike Chude.

The claimants sought an order restraining the election officials from conducting or supervising the election, pending the determination of the court on the petition.
They also prayed the court to set aside the poll, citing fraud and malpractices in the preparation towards the election.
The 88-page summons served on the defendants included a judgment obtained in 2022, where the National Industrial Court ruled that the National President of the NUJ and his executive had no powers to clear or disqualify candidates.
INCNews247 further gathered that there was a mild drama earlier at the Union gate as the bailiff was denied access and Gobir bullied his colleague, Mosunmola Ayobami, for collecting the summons.
The acting Chairman of the Sobi FM chapel, Kayode Adeoti, was also ordered to delete any video made regarding the assault involving the two electoral officials.
