The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, PhD, has given the green light to the draft content for the proposed National Conference on Skills Acquisition and Youth Empowerment.
This was confirmed by Wale Abideen, Head of Media and Strategic Communication of TPI at the weekend, saying it is a significant step towards addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment in Nigeria, which Ganduje believes is a major obstacle to peace and development.
According to him, Ganduje spent several hours at the party’s Think Tank, The Progressive Institute (TPI), discussing the conference with the institute’s management.

The conference, scheduled for December 2024, aims to bring together experts to develop a comprehensive approach to engaging Nigerian youths in productive activities.
The TPI Director General, Lanre Adebayo, PhD, hinted at a thorough examination of the causes and solutions to youth unemployment in Nigeria.
“We are committed to providing a platform for robust deliberation and pragmatic analysis,” Adebayo said.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to declare the conference open as further details about the conference will be made public in the coming days.
