RE: Gov. AbdulRasaq Moves to Replace Engr. Kale Kawu in Rural Electrification Agency
We have noted with concern recent reports circulating on social media regarding the purported replacement of Engr. Kale Kawu within the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). It is imperative to address the inaccuracies and misrepresentations present in these reports, which not only misinform but also mischaracterize the situation.
First and foremost, the claim that Engr. Bolakale Kawu holds the position of Executive Director within the REA is erroneous. Engr. Kawu serves diligently as the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, a distinction that must be accurately conveyed to ensure factual reporting.
Moreover, insinuations suggesting ulterior motives behind the potential replacement of Engr. Kawu by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq are unfounded and speculative. Contrary to such claims, there exists a longstanding cordial relationship between Engr. Kawu and the Abdulrazaq family, marked by mutual respect and recognition of each other’s contributions. This is evident when he was turbaned DAN IYAN OF ILORIN. He did not only appreciate the Governor’s younger brother, Mallam Isiak Abdulrazak but also acknowledged his immense contributions to his professional growth as a young engineer in the power sector.

Engr. Kawu’s dedication to the advancement of Kwara State and the Ilorin Emirate is also evident through his unwavering commitment to his duties, which have garnered commendation from various quarters, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. To attribute the proposed replacement to political maneuvering overlooks the merit-based considerations that guide such decisions.
Furthermore, Engr. Kawu’s apolitical stance and focus on service delivery underscore his commitment to professionalism and non-partisanship. Any attempt to politicize his tenure at the REA is both baseless and contrary to his ethos as a civil servant dedicated to the public good.
In light of these considerations, we urge caution against spreading unsubstantiated claims that serve only to sow discord and undermine the integrity of individuals such as Engr. Bolakale Kawu.
Engr. Bolakale Kawu is known for his commitment to peace and his ability to foster positive relationships with diverse individuals. He holds deep respect for the leadership of His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, and other prominent figures in Kwara who share a common goal of advancing the state’s development. Let us instead focus on fostering dialogue and collaboration towards the shared goal of progress and development for Kwara State and Nigeria as a whole.

BREAKING: Gov. Abdulrasaq moves to replace Engr. Kale Kawu in Rural Electrification Agency
In what is emerging as a strategic power play, Kwara State Governor, Abdulraman Abdulrasaq, is reportedly making bold moves to assert his influence within the federal structure by attempting to replace Engr. Bolakale Kawu, the sole surviving executive director after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent overhaul of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
Despite a sweeping dismissal of directors within the REA, Engr. Kawu, noted for his significant contributions to the empowerment of Kwarans through his position, miraculously retained his post. This development, however, has not gone down well with Gov. Abdulrasaq, who, in a swift move to the villa earlier in the week, has put forward a replacement as Kawu’s potential successor.
Insider sources claim that the new nominee, a staunch ally of the governor from Kwara South, has been handpicked in a clear bid to fortify Abdulrasaq’s grip on federal appointments linked to Kwara State.
The governor’s attempt to oust Kawu is widely viewed as a tactic to eliminate any semblance of political or influential competition within the state, ensuring that no rival figure could stand on equal footing with him, either on a state or federal level.
However, Abdulrasaq’s ambitious plan is facing pushback from various influential personalities within Kwara State, notably, a former Senate President and Wazirin Geri of Ilorin Emirate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
This incident marks another chapter in Gov. Abdulrasaq’s controversial attempts at manipulating key federal and state positions to favor his allies and consolidate his power base.
His previous involvement in the ousting of Mallam Lukman Mustapha from the executive directorship at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, and the subsequent failure to install a preferred replacement, underscores a pattern of political maneuvering that has become characteristic of his administration.
