The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Mutawwif Company of African Non Arabs (Muassassah) have signed an agreement for services to be provided during the 2023 Hajj.

The agreement includes an upgrade to the feeding and catering services at the Mashair and a 5% discount on payment this year, resulting in a lower cost for Nigeria compared to the previous year.

The agreement was signed by the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON, Alh Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, and the Chairman of Mutawwif Company.

The signing of the agreement is part of the preparations for this year’s Hajj, which is set to take place in late June, following a previous meeting held between the two teams at the Super Dome Centre in Jeddah during the Hajj and Umrah Expo 2023.

The agreement signed between the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Mutawwif Company of African Non Arabs (Muassassah) focuses on the roles and responsibilities of both parties during the Hajj.

It covers services provided to pilgrims in the areas of enlightenment, guidance, and transportation, particularly during the Mashair.

In his speech, the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON, Alh Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, acknowledged the difficulties faced by Nigerian pilgrims at the Mashair during last year’s Hajj and emphasized the need for improved services at a reduced cost.

The Chairman of Mutawwif Company, Ahmad Sindy, assured that the issues of the past will not be repeated and that they are dedicated to the welfare and well-being of pilgrims through improved facilities and eco-friendly settings.

He also mentioned that they will be upgrading the quality of food in terms of calories and weight, and have contracted a well-known nutritionist to ensure that service delivery is of the highest quality.

The National delegation to the event included the Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, Management and Finance (PPMF), the Commissioner of Operations, Licensing and Inspectorate, and the Commissioner in charge of Planning, Research, Statistics, Information and Library Services (PRSILS), as well as representatives of the Forum of State Chairmen/Secretaries of the 36 State pilgrims welfare boards, Agencies/Commissions, and the Executive members of the Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON).
