Insecurity: KWSG Hails Ayedun Community for Donating Vehicles, Buildings to Security Agencies

The people of Ayedun in the Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State have been hailed by the state’s governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, after the community handed over two completed buildings and two utility vehicles to security forces to battle insecurity in the area.

Governor AbdulRazaq described the event as historic as he presented the items to members of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Civil Defense Corps at Ayedun.

He urged other communities to support the State Government in ensuring the protection of lives and property in order to strengthen the peaceful coexistence for which the State has been known for.

The Governor, who was represented at the event by Arc. Aliyu Muhammad Saifuddeen, Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, praised the Community for taking tremendous steps to ensure that the area’s security architecture is further improved.

“We are all aware that Security funding is enlisted in the Exclusive list of the Federal Government but the present administration has been giving necessary support to Security Agencies in the State to ensure that we maintain peaceful ambiance and as well sustain our harmonious coexistence”, AbdulRazaq said.

Responding to the request of the Community, he disclosed that the present administration inherited a decayed system of governance and a wide infrastructural deficit, occasioned by the misrule of the previous administration.

Government, the Governor stated, is a continuum both in assets and liabilities, pointing out that his administration has ensured that every segment of the State is carried along in the execution of developmental projects ranging from health, road and water to the newly created Social Intervention Programmes such as Trader Money and Money for the Aged, among others.

Earlier, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Oke-Ero Local Government, Hon. Victor Gbenga Yusuf had commended the Community for the bold steps taken to compliment the State Government and the Local Government in strengthening security in the area.

Hon. Yusuf implored other Communities to emulate the good gestures of Ayedun people through thier various unions so as to cushion the effects of negligence by the past administration in the provision of social amenities.

The Council boss, who used the occasion to showcase the past developmental efforts of the Council in the Community, enjoined the people to continue to give maximum support to the laudable policies and programmes of the State Government in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.

Also speaking, the Paramount Ruler of the Community, the Obajisun of Ayedun, Oba (Dr.) Olusegun Rotimi commended the various Intervention Programmes of the present administration especially in Oke-Ero Local Government and appealed for more government presence in the area.

The National President of Ayedun Development Union, Alhaji Fatai Tiamiyu specifically pleaded with the State Government for the tarring of Ayedun township roads, particularly the five kilometers road leading to Erimope in Ekiti State.
