Barely 24 hours after their abductions, thirty (30) children kidnapped by bandits in Kasai village, located in Katsina Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, have regained freedom.
Confirming the development on Tuesday, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Police Command, said their release came after a concentrated effort by the command, working with other sister agencies and the community, among other stakeholders.
While giving the background of the situation, the police spokesperson said they were gathering firewood in the forest on Monday, 1 April 2024, when bandits kidnapped them.
“The victims who are children are mostly girls,” he added.
“The Command immediately acted upon receiving the news, opening an inquiry to free the individuals who had been abducted and apprehend those responsible.
He promised to notify the public “of any further developments when they occur”.
Muhammad Batsari, a member of the community, also confirmed the safe return of the kidnapped children.
“This morning, (Tuesday), I received a call informing me that the bandits had freed every victim they had kidnapped.”
However, at the press time, INCNews247 can’t confirm whether ransom was paid for their freedom.
