Many kidnapped, Properties Destroyed as Bandits Ravaged Bassa Village in Niger State

Bassa, a village in Shiroro Local Government of Niger State has been left in a state of pandemonium as many yet to be confirmed persons were reportedly kidnapped on Thursday.
The situation happened around 5am when some villagers were asleep, leaving them incapacitated to defend selves while some fled into a nearby forest for safety.
Sani Abubakar Kokki, Co-convener of concerned Shiroro Youths confirmed the incident to Intercontinental News 247.
Kokki, said bandits were shooting sporadically as they attacked Bassa village of Shiroro Local Government.
Some village members reported fleeing into the forest to avoid being shoot and whisked away by Bandits
According to him, “The number of people kidnapped is yet to be confirmed, but I know that they are much, to say the least.
“On Thursday, some other communities in Bassa/ Kokki were attacked and a lot of losses were recorded there too,” he said.
“Shiroro Local Government Area needs help from the government at all levels as Bandits continue to waste our lives.
“It’s on a sad note that the people have continued to live at the mercy of the bandits.”
The spokesman of the Niger State Police Command, ASP Abiodun Wasiu, said he is yet to be briefed on the attack at the press time.
