Kwara Acquires 20,075 Hectares of Land for Smart City Project

Following stakeholders engagement meeting on land acquisition, the Kwara State Government has acquired land in both Ilorin East and Ilorin South Local Government Areas of Kwara State, for the purpose of citing the New Ilorin SmartCity Estate, in the best interest of Kwarans and the entire nation.
The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KW-GIS), ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman stated this of recent, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Zulu Gambari (CON), in his palace in Ilorin, the State Capital.

The Chairman commended the royal father for his fatherly roles at piloting the affairs of the Ilorin metropolis and environs, adding that motives behind the visit was to intimate the Royal Father of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s quest for the acquisition of about 20,065 hectares of land, in both Ilorin East and South Local Government Areas, respectively, for the establishment of the New Ilorin SmartCity Estate.
According to him, “the SmartCity would accommodate Modern Schools, Hospitals, Markets, Police Stations, Fire Services, Stadia and other social amenities.”
“The SmartCity Estate would also House 1000 Federal Renewed hope housing estates as well as accommodating the phase two Industrial Park and a host of other infrastructure,” he added.
Sulyman also affirmed that, when fully activated, the project would provide employment opportunities for our teeming youths.
He disclosed that, communities existing in the acquired land, should not entertain any fear as they will be incorporated into the SmartCity project for further expansion and development and full compensation will be paid with other owners of the acquired lands, as they are already urged to forward their claims to the office of the Executive Chairman, KW-GIS, along Commissioner’s Lodge Way, GRA, Ilorin, for collation.
ESV Sulyman therefore solicited the full support and cooperation of the Royal Father in sensitizing the public through the Magajis, and Allanguas to fully support Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on his quest to further develop the State, for the betterment of all.
Responding, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Zulu Gambari, who is also the Chairman, Traditional Rulers in the State, said he is fully in support of the project and promised to as a matter of urgency speak with Magajis concerned to also support the project, for the progress of the state, in a bid for Governor AbdulRazaq led administration to enhance another landmark success.
The Royal Father then prayed for the success of the Governor and his entire cabinet members, throughout his tenure of office.
