Man Kidnapped in Kwara Found Dead in Forest

Olujala Adegboja, who was kidnapped last Saturday in Olla community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, was found dead in a forest on Wednesday, INCNews247 can report.
According to the deceased images as obtained by INCNews247, he was gravely disfigured by machete wounds in his ankles, in what appears to be a cruel assault by his kidnappers.
Recall, unknown gunmen attacked and kidnapped Onijala, claimed to be a relation of a monarch in the town, in the Olla village on Saturday around 7 p.m., shooting intermittently.
The victim, who was said to be the brother of Hon. Onijala, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, was abducted on his way home from his farm in the community in an operation that lasted nearly an hour.
The kidnappers allegedly wanted a ransom of millions of naira in exchange for the victim’s release.
Although some of the money was purportedly paid in part, yet was killed by the kidnappers.
The Kwara Police Command’s spokesman, Okasanmi Ajayi, had Sunday said the state police commissioner, Tuesday Assayomo, directed the anti-kidnapping and other tactical teams, in collaboration with local hunters and vigilantes, to launch a search and rescue operation for the victim, as well as the possible arrest of the perpetrators.
However, his body was discovered in the forest during the search and rescue operation by the local hunters and vigilantes early hours of today.
The Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday.
The Commissioner of Police Kwara State Command, CP Tuesday Assayomo, commiserate with the family of the deceased and further assures the people of Kwara State that the Command will not relent in her effort to see that criminality of any nature and shape are brought down to a minimal level before, during and after the yuletide period in the State.
