The Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has pledged the Commission’s commitment to ensuring sustainable Hajj operations in Nigeria.

He made this commitment today in his opening remarks at the 2nd National Stakeholders Summit of Nigeria’s Hajj and Umrah Industry, held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja.

The summit, themed “Sustainable Hajj Financing: Developing a Resilient Model for Nigerian Pilgrims and Operators,” brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors to discuss matters vital to the future of Hajj operations in Nigeria.

Usman outlined the challenges facing the Hajj industry, including fluctuating foreign exchange rates, rising service costs, and evolving regulatory landscapes.

He emphasized the need for resilient and sustainable financial models to guarantee affordability, efficiency, and integrity in Hajj operations.

The NAHCON boss announced a significant milestone in the Commission’s sustainability drive, the successful on-boarding of three additional partner banks into the Hajj Savings Scheme – Alternative Bank, TAJ Bank, and Lotus Bank.

This expansion, he said, would widen the reach of the Hajj Savings Scheme, promote financial inclusion, and lay a strong foundation for a sustainable Hajj financing model.

Usman expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their continuous support and timely interventions in resolving the challenges of this year’s Hajj.

He also thanked the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, for his guidance and Jaiz Bank for their Corporate Social Responsibility in sponsoring the summit.

The NAHCON boss assured stakeholders that the Commission, under his leadership, is dedicated to fostering strong partnerships, collaborations, and teamwork to ensure the success of the 2025 Hajj operations.
