Nigerian Military Arrests Mastermind of Abuja-Kaduna Train Bombing

The Nigerian Military announced on Thursday that troops from Operation WHIRL PUNCH had apprehended three terrorists in Damba community, located in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Among the individuals arrested was one of the masterminds of the March 28, 2022 terrorist attack on the Abuja-Kaduna Train.
The arrests were made on February 14, 2023, which happened to be Valentine’s Day.
During a press briefing, Major General Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations, discussed the military’s recent successes in both kinetic and non-kinetic operations within the country’s six geopolitical zones over the past two weeks.
He stated that the troops responded to intelligence about the presence of Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province kingpins in Damba community, and were able to apprehend the three suspects following mobilization to the area.
The military’s swift response to intelligence information and subsequent arrest of these terrorists is a testament to their commitment to ensuring peace and security in the country.
According to Danmadami, “Troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH on February 14, 2023 responded to information on the presence of Boko Haram Terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province kingpins at Damba community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Subsequently, troops mobilized to the location and arrested 3 terrorists.
“One of the terrorists arrested was identified as one of the masterminds of the March 28, 2022 terrorist attack on the Abuja Kaduna Train Services.
“Following the operation, troops recovered 2 motorcycles, 2 mobile phones, the sum of five thousand Dollar ($5,000) as well as some other currency and other sundry items.
