NITDA, ACEPHAP Collaborate to Transform Healthcare Sector Through Digital Technology

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Africa Centre of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) are set to collaborate on leveraging digital technology to improve the healthcare sector in Nigeria.
This was made known when a delegation from the ACEPHAP led by its director, Professor Hadiza Shehu Galadanci visited the DG NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa CCIE at the Corporate Headquarters of the Agency to discuss possible areas of collaboration.
According to NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, the agency has outlined a comprehensive plan to utilize technology to enhance healthcare delivery, emphasizing that technology is an essential tool that enhances productivity and innovation across all sectors.

“We aim to increase the digital fluency of our citizens and build a vibrant healthcare sector,” Inuwa said.
Some of the areas of focus for the partnership include: Development of digital health solutions to improve healthcare delivery, utilization of artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance medical research and diagnostics, establishment of a robust healthcare data management system to ensure the privacy and security of patients’ data and development of a healthcare entrepreneurship and innovation hub to support startups and foster innovation in the healthcare sector
Professor Hadiza Shehu Galadanci, Director of ACEPHAP, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating that it will drive transformative change in the healthcare sector.
“We hope this partnership will translate research into impactful policies and foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among healthcare professionals,” Galadanci remarked.
The collaboration aims to leverage digital technology to improve healthcare delivery, enhance medical research and diagnostics, and ensure the privacy and security of patients’ data.
“We are committed to supporting startups and fostering innovation in the healthcare sector,” Inuwa added.
