A student from Gbagba Junior Secondary School, whose identity is yet to be determined has been reportedly drowned in the Gbagba river in Ilorin, Kwara State, this afternoon.

According to an eyewitness, the deceased went to the creek with some of his peers to swim, but he drowned, causing his colleagues to flee to the hills.

“We spotted no fewer than 6 of the Gbagba Secondary School pupils at the ribbing,” stated an eyewitness who identified himself as Mutiu.

He added that, “Suddenly we held loud crying, upon rushing down, we discovered that one of the students had drowned, leading to his friends taking to their hills.

“Before we could rescue him, he already died and we saw signs on his head which is likely as a result of him hitting his head on the rock,” he confirmed.
