Wailing Shekau’s Mother Curses Son over Mistreatment

By Alabidun Shuaib Abdulrahman

Falmata Abubakar, the mother of the late dreaded Boko Haram leader, has wailed over her son Abubakar Shekau’s mistreatment of her, expressing pain, agony, and distrust.

She further stated that prior to his death, she had no contact with the fugitive terrorist leader.

Falmata revealed in an interview with Trust TV that she has been estranged from the Shekau for a long time and that they have no relationship.

Falmata claims that the assassinated Boko Haram leader tortured her and that God Almighty will punish him for his crimes.

Shekau’s mother added that she had given up on him and does not know if the slain terrorist had children while he was alive.

She said: “I gave birth to him and on my own part, that is the only and last thing between us. Whether he is alive or not; we have parted ways.”

“I never knew whether he had any offspring. He inflicted severe pain on me. God Almighty will judge between us in the hereafter.”

Shekau was murdered on May 19 following a clash with members from the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).

With numerous gun trucks, ISWAP fighters invaded Shekau’s stronghold and defeated Boko Haram fighters, including Shekau’s bodyguards, killing fighters on both sides.

Shekau was believed to have surrendered after defeating Boko Haram fighters and engaged in a lengthy battle with ISWAP fighters.

He was given the option of willingly relinquishing control and ordering his fighters in other areas to pledge allegiance to ISWAP.

Shekau, on the other hand, detonated a suicide vest he was wearing, killing himself and several others there at the time.

Shekau had been the Boko Haram terrorist group’s commander since 2009, when the group’s founder, Mohammed Yusuf, died.

Boko Haram nominated Bakura Modu, also known as Sahaba, as the new leader of the terrorist group after Shekau’s death.
