The incident occurred at about 9:34 p.m. on Friday, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the company’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.

According to the statement, a subsequent inspection of the area led to the recovery of 12 transmission tower angle irons, a heavy-duty metal measuring scale and a white pickup truck believed to have been used by the suspects.
“The recovered items and the vehicle have been handed over to the Railway Division Police Station, Bauchi, for further investigation,” the statement read.
TCN said no equipment was stolen during the attempted theft and no injuries were recorded.
The company commended the swift response of its security personnel, noting that their vigilance prevented damage to critical transmission infrastructure.
It also appealed to residents of host communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around power installations to security agencies or the nearest TCN office to help protect the nation’s electricity infrastructure.
