TCN to Shut Katampe-Apo Lines for Maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN has announced a scheduled preventive maintenance on the Katampe/Apo 132kV Transmission Lines 1 and 2, which will affect electricity supply to parts of Abuja on Saturday and Sunday.
TCN, in a statement signed by its management on Friday and obtained by INCNews247, said the maintenance would take place between 9am and 5pm on both days.
The exercise, according to the transmission company, is aimed at replacing the Optical Ground Wire on Towers T120, T131 and T132 along the transmission line route.

TCN explained that the maintenance was necessary to ensure the reliability and safety of the transmission infrastructure serving the affected areas.
It added that the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC would be unable to off-take bulk electricity for onward distribution to customers in Asokoro, Garki 2, Lugbe, Airport, Barracks and surrounding communities during the maintenance period.
The affected electricity consumers are therefore expected to experience interruptions in power supply while the maintenance work is being carried out.
“TCN apologises for the inconvenience this may cause electricity consumers in the affected areas,” the statement said.
The company assured the public that the exercise was a routine preventive maintenance operation intended to improve the reliability of electricity transmission within the affected areas.
The maintenance is scheduled for August 15 and 16, 2026.
