Troops Destroy 41 Illegal Refineries, Arrest 44 oil thieves — DHQ

The Defence Headquarters has said that troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces destroyed 41 illegal refining sites and arrested 44 suspects during operations in the South-South and South-East regions in September.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, stated this in a statement on Friday while briefing on the outcomes of ongoing military operations across the country.
Kangye said troops of Operation Delta Safe foiled oil theft valued at over ₦112 million, destroying illegal refineries and recovering large quantities of stolen crude and refined products.

“The troops dismantled 21 cooking ovens, 9 dugout pits, 11 storage tanks, 7 boats and 6 illegal refining sites in Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers States,” the statement added.
He noted that 8 oil thieves and 36 other criminal suspects were arrested, while assorted weapons and ammunition were recovered during the operations.
In the South-East, troops of Operation Udo Ka killed one terrorist and arrested four others during offensive raids in Anambra and Imo States, with weapons, vehicles and explosive materials recovered.
Kangye commended the gallant troops for their resilience and reiterated that the military, in collaboration with other security agencies, “will continue to work tirelessly to ensure lasting peace and security across the federation.”
