The immediate past Senator representing Kwara Central at the National Assembly, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe, has debunked claims that he had withdrawn from the 2027 governorship race, declaring his intention to remain in the contest after obtaining the Expression of Interest Form of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Rumours had been rife recently that the former lawmaker had stepped down or aligned with another aspirant within the ruling party, particularly after a stakeholders’ meeting in Ilorin endorsed a different contender.
INCNews247 learnt, the meeting, which was said to have been convened by some party members in their personal capacities, drew further attention due to the reported involvement of a member of Oloriegbe’s extended family.

Reacting to the development in a message posted on his verified social media accounts, Oloriegbe said “I am pleased to inform our supporters, well-wishers and people of Kwara State and beyond that I have formally taken another decisive step in this journey with the purchase of my Expression of Interest Form under the platform of the APC”.
He added that the form had been endorsed by 120 bona fide members of the party from across the 16 local government areas of the state.
Oloriegbe described the purchase as more than a routine requirement, saying it reflected his resolve to serve the state and contribute meaningfully to its development.
“This is not just a procedural milestone—it is a reaffirmation of my commitment to serve and to offer my very best in the interest of our dear state,” he stated.
The gubernatorial aspirant maintained that his ambition is driven by competence, experience and a clear capacity to deliver results, assuring supporters that he would remain focused as the process unfolds.
“As the process unfolds, I am giving this aspiration my utmost effort—driven by a sense of duty, strengthened by experience, and focused on advancing the progress we all desire,” he added.
