Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has underlined his commitment to providing welfare, proper operational platforms, and logistics as a catalyst to strengthen NA personnel’s fighting spirit.
The COAS made the announcement during his first working visit to the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division in Jos, Plateau State’s capital.
His administration’s first goal, he said, is the wellbeing of troops.

The COAS told officers and soldiers in the Division that the current security issues could be overcome by consistently demonstrating professionalism in all given jobs.
He tasked the Division’s personnel with demonstrating consistency on a regular basis.
During the visit, Maj Gen I Ali, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), briefed the COAS on the Division’s operational actions, accomplishments, successes, and problems.
The COAS praised the Division for carrying out its duties and urged them to keep working till peace is restored in their Area of Responsibility, particularly in the Plateau. He promised the Division that he would continue to assist them in improving their operational engagements.
The COAS told journalists that his visit to 3 Division was intended to connect with the troops, as well as to encourage and assure them of his support.
COAS, therefore, presented a Toyota Hilux Vehicle to the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) of the Division, in fulfilment of his pledge to revitalize the position of Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs) as custodians of tradition, ethos and regimentation in the NA. He added that empowering the RSMs will give them the necessary enablement to discharge their duties effectively.
