The Tinubu Media Volunteers, TMV has said the recent ranking of Apapa and Tincan ports among the world’s most improved ports is evidence that the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu are beginning to yield positive results.
The group stated that the recognition reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to placing the country on the path of sustainable economic growth through strategic investments and reforms in critical sectors.
In a statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group noted that Nigeria’s maritime sector had received a major boost following the latest ranking contained in the World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index.

According to the statement, the 2025 CPPI report, released in June 2026, highlighted the progress made by the Nigerian Ports Authority in improving port efficiency, vessel turnaround time and overall operational performance.
The group explained that the index provides a data-driven assessment of port performance across the world and measures improvements in efficiency and service delivery among global maritime hubs.
It added that the inclusion of Apapa and Tincan ports among the top 20 ports in the Port Improvement category underscores ongoing efforts by the NPA to modernise infrastructure, enhance operational efficiency and strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness in international trade.
TMV further argued that improvements in port infrastructure had contributed to the country’s trade performance, including the recording of trade surpluses in the last three years and the enhancement of the ease of doing business environment.
The statement also noted that the development was boosting investor confidence and attracting increased foreign direct investment into the country.
The group expressed optimism that the latest global recognition would further position Nigerian ports as leading trade gateways for the West and Central African regions, thereby strengthening the country’s role in regional and international commerce.
