The Court of Appeal in Abuja has granted the President-elect, Bola Tinubu access to inspect the electoral materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, during the February 25, 2022 general elections.
Tinubu had earlier urged the court to order INEC to grant him access to the sensitive materials to prepare his defence against petitions that may seek to nullify his election.

Tinubu’s lawyer, Akintola Makinde, stated that his client needed to inspect, scan and make photocopies of some of the electoral materials to make comparisons with the information contained in INEC’s back-end server.
Tinubu’s first ex-parte application, filed on March 6, had the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as respondents.
In the second application, the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, were cited as respondents, along with INEC.
In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, a three-member panel of the court granted the reliefs sought by Tinubu and the APC in the fourth motion ex-parte, except for prayers 5 and 6 in Tinubu’s motion.
