Hajj Operators Accuse NAHCON of Mismanaging N90bn Fund
The Association of Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) has dismissed as misleading the claim by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) that international pilgrims benefited from the N90 billion federal government intervention during this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca.
In a statement signed by its National President, Abdullateef Yusuf Ekundayo, and National Secretary, Muhammad Nasil Chamo, AHUON described NAHCON’s posture as an attempt to deceive Nigerians.
The association stated that none of its members received a dime from the N90 billion subsidy, despite promises by NAHCON that international pilgrims would benefit from the concession.

AHUON also disputed NAHCON’s account of the allocation of tents during the exercise, particularly the incident at Tent ‘A’ (VIP Tent) Muna, where Nigerian dignitaries were allegedly harassed and disgraced.
The association further accused NAHCON of trying to shift the blame to tour operators, saying that the commission single-handedly selected and appointed service providers for the 2024 Hajj without input from AHUON members.
AHUON challenged NAHCON to explain how many pilgrims participated in the Tent ‘A’ services and how they obtained their visas and access permits.
The association warned that it would no longer stand by and watch NAHCON deprive pilgrims of their right to efficient and stress-free Hajj services.
AHUON, therfore, called on the National Assembly to investigate NAHCON’s management of Hajj in Nigeria, beyond the “cosmetic” World Press Conference.
