IBBU Dismisses 23 Students for Academic, Behavioural Misconduct

In a recent development, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) in Lapai, Niger State, has taken the decision to expel 23 students from its institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu, made this announcement during a press briefing in Minna yesterday, ahead of the upcoming 4th combined Convocation scheduled for Saturday.

Out of the 23 dismissed students, 17 were advised to withdraw from the university due to their consistently low academic performance. Additionally, seven students were expelled for engaging in various forms of misconduct.

Speaking on behalf of the institution, Professor Adamu emphasised IBBU’s commitment to maintaining its high academic standards and upholding exemplary behaviour.

He highlighted the university’s long-standing reputation for academic excellence and expressed determination to sustain this standard without compromise.

During the 4th combined Convocation ceremony, the university will proudly graduate a total of 6,154 students.

Among the graduates, 37 individuals have achieved first-class honours, while 954 will receive second-class upper certificates.

Furthermore, 3,283 students will be awarded second-class lower division degrees, 1,538 will graduate with a third-class degree, and 17 others will receive a Pass.

Professor Adamu clarified that the convocation ceremony will encompass graduands from both the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic sessions.

Of the total graduates, 5,719 are undergraduate students, while 435 are Post Graduate Diploma (PGD), Masters, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidates.
