The Kale Kawu For All Initiative has announced plans to hold the maiden edition of the Kwara Community Development Summit on January 28, 2026, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The summit, scheduled to take place at the Diamond Event Hall, Irewolede, Ilorin, is aimed at promoting grassroots development and strengthening collaboration among community-based stakeholders in the state.

The State Coordinator of the initiative, Comrade Hassan Nurudeen Okin, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, saying the event is being organised in honour of Engineer Suleiman Kale Kawu Agaka, the Dan Iya of Ilorin.

Okin described Engineer Kale Kawu as a renowned philanthropist whose interventions have positively affected several communities across Kwara State.

According to him, the summit is designed to celebrate Kale Kawu’s contributions to community development while encouraging individuals and organisations to embrace philanthropy as a tool for social progress.

“Engineer Kale Kawu has shown uncommon commitment to uplifting communities through his philanthropic efforts. This summit is our way of recognising his impact and motivating others to support community development initiatives,” he said.

He explained that the summit would bring together community development associations, facilitators, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders to deliberate on ways of leveraging philanthropic efforts for sustainable development.

Okin noted that participants would also examine the role of philanthropy in enhancing community growth in Kwara State and explore strategies for improving its effectiveness.

“This summit will provide an opportunity for development partners and stakeholders to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration aimed at improving the welfare of people at the grassroots,” he added.

The coordinator further revealed that the programme would feature panel discussions, interactive sessions and presentations by experienced community development practitioners and policy experts.

He called on community leaders, youth groups, women associations, religious leaders and traditional rulers across the state to participate actively in the summit.

Okin reaffirmed the commitment of the Kale Kawu For All Initiative to promoting community-driven development and creating platforms for stakeholders to share experiences and best practices.

The Kale Kawu For All Initiative is a non-governmental organisation focused on advancing sustainable community development and social impact initiatives across Kwara State.
