2023 Census to Provide Crucial Data for Nigeria’s Sustainable Development — NPC Commissioner

The Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, NPC, Dr. Abdulmalik Durunguwa, expressed confidence that the upcoming 2023 Census would address several challenges confronting the country. H

Durunguwa made the assurance during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.

He emphasised that the census would serve as a valuable tool for the government and its partners to better understand the population’s needs and plan for sustainable development.

The commissioner remarked that the government would be able to identify the country’s various issues through the thorough conduct of the exercise and come up with solutions to tackle them.

He further stressed that the census data would be critical in understanding the composition and dynamics of Nigeria’s population.

Durunguwa emphasised that it was essential to know where individuals reside rather than their village or state of origin, stating that the data was necessary to solve people’s problems.

He called on all Nigerians to ensure they participate in the census to enable the government to know more about the people and plan for their needs.

Durunguwa added that the census would provide a working document for the government to respond to the unique challenges facing people in different parts of the country after its conclusion.
